Fertility Appointments

Shen Therapies specializes in Fertility, Pregnancy and Gynaecology, and we also work in with other health professionals such as gynaecologists, midwives, obsteotricians.  Our success rate is 96.1% in regards to Fertility, and the primary reason for this is the program we have here at Shen Therapies.

As we are in the health science field, we make every effort to keep up to date with happenings within medicine, yet we use Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture as our treatment for couples to prepare their bodies and minds to be in the best possible condition to create new life.

Our comprehensive program centres on dietary changes, addressing nutritional deficiencies, reducing stress and negative emotions, increasing or decreasing weight, enhancing the immune system and addressing known causes of infertility such as endometriosis and polycystic ovaries.
We hold our Fertility Information mornings for both couples and singles on a Friday, the session lasts about 3 hours and is conducted on a small group basis. The lecture covers common lifestyle changes, recent research topics and information on how to maximise patient’s chances of falling pregnant both naturally and in combination with procedures, such as IUI and IVF. The information session is very informative and covers topics on how to increase a person’s chance of falling pregnant.  Included in the price of your fertility information morning is up to $400 value of initial products such as nutritional supplements and herbal medicines.  We believe these are crucial to assisting you with increasing your chances of conception.  We also offer a complimentary acupuncture treatment (1 per couple) by our specialist practitioners’ either before or after the session.

Every new patient must attend a fertility information session and be prepared to commit to regular appointments to go through health history, diet and lifestyle issues in order to evaluate them on both a Chinese medicine and Western medicine level and to give us the bigger picture of what is going on.

Please note our program is not just about coming for a one off acupuncture treatment before an embryo transfer – we require a full health history (just as in any medical practice) and the opportunity to advise people on ways to maximise their chances of conceiving and maintaining a pregnancy.

In order for our practitioners to start to piece together your experience a health questionnaire is sent prior to the fertility information session.  We ask that this is returned before their initial consultation so that a report can be written and a treatment plan formulated. We also ask all patients that are using their partner’s sperm to submit a recent (within 3 months) semen analysis.

Treatment plans, which are given at the initial fertility sessions, highlight the changes necessary in order to enhance the changes of conceiving. This plan includes the use of herbs and vitamins according to the individual’s Chinese medicine diagnosis.

Our female Fertility patients are then recommended to receive acupuncture every two weeks as in conjunction with taking herbs which are also prescribed at these appointments.   Males who need to improve their fertility are also recommended fortnightly acupuncture.  Both males and females are advised to remain on our own Conceptshen®specifically formulated nutritional supplements throughout preconception, and females are also recommended to take certain nutritional medicine throughout the pregnancy and also while breastfeeding.

We do need everyone to participate in our fertility program to be able to continue treatments with us. We find that educated patients, make better patients and have better success rates too.

Those living outside Brisbane must also attend the fertility information session and have an individual consultation. After returning home, we can refer them to a reputable acupuncturist in their region to ensure they have regular treatments. Patients are advised to contact the clinic twice a month so that herbs and supplements can be prescribed and sent to them.
